This course is designed to enable participants, through seminars and discussions on specific examples of disaster response, to enhance their capability to understand and analyze the disaster situation comprehensively and in a cross-sectoral manner, and to cope with large-scale disasters in which various countermeasures must be taken simultaneously. Based on experiences and lessons learned from the Great Hanshin-Awaji Earthquake, this course is designed to improve the disaster management abilities of those who assist the heads of local governments. Through seminars and other activities, participants will learn about various aspects and situations in which they will be required to make correct judgments about emergency response procedures and policies in the event of large-scale disaster. Staff in the disaster/crisis management departments of local governments who are expected to assume management roles of those departments in future.
