Mr. Hiroji Okamoto
I am working in this Institution as a volunteer, once a week basically. Please call me “Hiro” here-after.
Natural disaster devastate cities and various infrastructures and makes our lives miserable situation. The more destructive a calamity is, the more damages tend to increase.
Regret to say, at present, there is no way to change compulsorily it’s coming, and date, and scale. But, we know that it is available to deduct the assumable damages, by the effective preparation which based upon exhaustive observation and inspection of the scene.
Japanese proverb says, “One observation is more useful than frequent listening.
This insists the importance of seeing of the matter by one’s own eyes.
This institution has not only a large volume of datum and records in order to notify to our guest, also has three kind of documentary movies, in relate to the “Great Hanshin-Awaji Earthquake” and the “Great East-Japan Earthquake, as well as many video systems.
In this occasion, I sincerely hope that as many as guest will visit this institution, and have a better understanding for the various types of Natural Disasters and how to reduce or deduct the damages caused by them.
I am very glad, that my volunteer activity may contribute, even if it is very small, to promote a happy life of human being.
