The Library and Archive Service collects, preserves, and makes available to the public materials related to the Great Hanshin-Awaji Earthquake. You can also research and learn about disasters that occurred in other areas, as well as disaster prevention and mitigation. Use of the library is free of charge.

| Browsing materials | ・Please feel free to browse the secondary materials (books, DVDs, etc.) that are available in the room. ・Materials stored in the storage room (primary materials = actual materials related to the disaster) can also be viewed with prior notice and submission of an application form. ・You can use the information retrieval system on the official website to search for materials in the archives and identify the number of the material you wish to view. ・Please fill out an application form based on this information. PC terminals for searching are also available in the room and can be used freely. |
| Photocopying of materials | Photocopy machines are available in the reference room. (Self-service: 10 yen per copy for black and white, 40 yen per copy for color) *Some materials cannot be copied. |
| Lending of materials | Some primary materials (actual materials from the earthquake) and secondary materials (books, DVDs, etc.) may be lent out upon request. Some DVDs and VHS videos are available for non-commercial use only. Please inquire for details. |
| Donation of materials | The Disaster Reduction and Human Renovation Institution (DRI) continues to collect materials on the disaster. Donations of materials from disaster victims and related parties are also accepted. |
Directions

The library is located on the 5th floor of the West Wing. Enter the West Wing and take the elevator on your right. You can use this room without an admission ticket.
