Browsing

Secondary materials (books, videos, etc.) stored on open stacks in the Library may be browsed freely.
Primary materials (direct records of the disaster) may be searched from computer terminals in the library or via the Internet at http://lib.dri.ne.jp/search/. Prior reservations are required to view primary materials directly.

Copying

Photocopiers are available on a self-service basis.
10 yen per sheet for black-and-white copies and 40 yen per sheet for color copies.

Borrowing

Library materials are not available for borrowing.
Some photo and video images, however, are available for use outside the library. Please inquire at the Library.

Reference

Please inquire about the use of materials related to earthquake disasters and disaster prevention.

A Record of the Victims

A Disaster Victim Inquiry Commission conducted interviews with the surviving family members of the victims, and a part of these interviews has been published under the title A Record of the Victims.

Digital version of Community Recovery Records

Annual reviews of the recovery process in the earthquake-afflicted areas are available for viewing via computer.

Kobe Shimbun article database search system

Articles from the Kobe Shimbun (including those from local editions) published after the Great Hanshin–Awaji Earthquake of 1995 are searchable by date or keyword for title and text.

Seismic analysis of wood-framed housing

Provides a rudimentary seismic analysis simply by inputting information about your home’s structure and location into a computer.

Great Hanshin–Awaji Earthquake map data viewing system

This system allows users to compare map data of locations throughout Kobe from before and after the earthquake, thereby illustrating the full extent of positional changes. It is possible to compare map data from up to four different years at once to view the changes over time.
